A Willingboro man suspected of participating in a kidnapping and robbery in Eve-sham in January was arrested in the township Wednesday morning.

He was driving on Fairview Street at 3:11 a.m. when he was stopped for a traffic violation. Then ran away from his vehicle and eluded an initial search of the area by officers, police said Wednesday.

He was spotted about two hours later walking on Route 130 and was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was wanted by Evesham police in a Jan. 5 kidnapping and robbery at Dad's Deli on North Maple Avenue.

He and a second suspect physically restrained a man in the deli parking lot and forced him into a pickup truck, investigators said. They then drove to a nearby neighborhood and robbed the man of $150 and a cell phone.

The victim was identified only as an Evesham resident. He was not injured.

Police declined to specify how the suspect was identified as a suspect but said a second suspect remains at large.

He was sent to Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly on $100,000 bail. He also was charged with resisting arrest, obstruction and motor vehicle violations in connection with his flight from Delran officers. Bail on those charges was set at an additional $10,000.
